Photo Shoot in Snow Canyon

September 5, 2017

Uhhhmm....this photo shoot also came together a few months ago but WOW. There were so many memorable details I don't even know where to start! I got involved when Event Planner, Katie Bushell reached out to me in search of a "rope, cowboy-type macrame piece with tassels" for her upcoming event.

It's not unusual for Katie to reach out to vendors for custom pieces to bring to life the design she imagines for a specific event. It's one of the many ways she is able to repeatedly deliver distinct, personal, experiences for her brides. I mean seriously this kick-ass-one-woman-event-manager constructs each occasion like a cloud constructing a snowflake. From the cowhide piece that inspired the overall aesthetic to the custom arch that she built herself from reclaimed wood, this vow renewal photo shoot met all expectations of Katie's eclectic style!

Needless to say, I was pretty excited to be one of the designs in Katie's "snowflake." For this shoot she incorporated one of my macrame throws as a shawl for the bride. It tied in perfectly with the macrame tassels she used to garnish the custom arch in a natural but eye-catching fashion. It helped implement the southwestern feel in one of my favorite parts of Utah.  I loooooooove southern Utah's canyons and deserts and so does Haley Nord, the photographer for this event! One of many reasons why I love Haley so. She spent a lot of time playing in the desert growing up and now it's one of her favorite places to shoot! She is so great at focusing on natural elements as a way of intensifying the beauty of each photo. She even mentioned that the styling of the make up and jewelry for this shoot were angled around enhancing the natural colors presented by the canyon!

Something that I love about working with other artists is discovering the traditions they have incorporated into their brand. For example Katie always tries to incorporate food as a design element. She pointed out that it gives the event a more "realistic and cozy feel." What is one of Haley's traditions? Music. Haley always has a musician in mind when shooting. How cool is that?! For this particular session she chose Stevie Nicks. Her muse helped her find and capture mystical, earthy vibes in each photo. But Haley's favorite part of the shoot was seeing just how in love with each other Erin and Tyler are. When looking back on the shoot Haley said that

"those moments always remind me that the importance at the core of my work is creating and documenting extraordinary love."

Sorry if I got cheesy on you for a second there but seriously look at the pictures and you'll understand why! Anyway! I could write about the details from this shoot all day but I think it's probably best at this point if I leave the photo gallery to speak for itself! After you've browsed through these photos be sure check out Junebug Wedding's where the event was featured!
